Our library collection is quite extensive, and is arranged to assist students to choose the most appropriate book for them. Fiction books are arranged in alphabetical order using the author's surname. Non-fiction books are arranged using the Dewey Decimal system. For each section there are year level restrictions on borrowing.
Each class has an allocated borrowing time during the week, however students may borrow before and after school and at second break [1:00-1:30pm]. View the BORROWING TIMETABLE to see when each class has their own scheduled borrowing time. All books are due back after one week, however students may re-borrow a book for a further week by bringing the book in and requesting a renewal. Students are responsible for returning books on time and in reasonable condition. One of our Keys to Success is Organisation and as a result classes with no overdue books each week are acknowledged by way of a certificate which can be displayed in their classroom. Reminders for damaged and overdue books will be sent home periodically. Students and/or parents will be asked to reimburse the school for lost or damaged books. P-3 students may borrow one book at a time and require a library bag in order to borrow. Year 4-7 students may borrow two books at a time and are trusted to look after their books without the need for a library bag. Web Links on the main menu contains general internet links for students, parents and teachers, as well as links relevant to current classroom units.
Book Club operates 8 times per year. Twice each term, brochures are distributed to classrooms. If students and parents decide to purchase products, order forms and money need to be returned to the Cash Window by the advertised due date [see the Calendar]. Orders will be collated and receipts returned with orders. Generally orders are returned to the school within a fortnight of the due date. Book Fair operates twice a year. Products arrive at the school and classes are invited to preview [no purchasing during preview] for the first couple of days. On the last preview day, parents and their children are invited to attend after school to purchase. The Book Fair then remains open for a further 3-4 days for student and parent purchasing [before & after school, 2nd break]. Products are sent in limited quantities [usually 4-5 copies per title], however in most cases products can be ordered for delivery after Book Fair. Credit card facilities are available. Both Book Club and Book Fair are offered as a no-obligation service to students and their families - they are offered because our school benefits from all purchases by earning both free books and Reading Reward points which can be redeemed for free books. All free books are added to our Library Collection. |
