Student Services Print E-mail

Students who are troubled or having difficulties need support. This may be formal support organised by parents or staff, or it may be informal support offered by friends or family.

If your child is in need of support, please approach their classroom teacher to discuss options available to support students at our school.

Chaplain: Jess Schwartz

SU Qld Chaplaincy

School Chaplains are in the prevention and rescue business – helping students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness to drug abuse, depression and suicide.

They provide a listening ear and a caring presence for kids in crisis and those who just need a friend.

Working alongside other caring professionals, SU Qld Chaplains care for young people’s spiritual and emotional needs through pastoral care, activity programs, community outreach and adventure-based learning.

SU Qld Chaplains provide a personal point of Christian contact, care and support for students, teachers and their families within their schools.

Representatives from local churches, schools and communities form Local Chaplaincy Committees (LCCs) to administer and raise funds for their particular Chaplains.

Jess Schwartz

Jess enjoys working with the Bohlevale SS team as a chaplain. She has had the opportunity to work at a fish and chip shop, a lychee farm and a donut shop over the last few years. Currently finishing off a Bachelor of Arts(majoring in psychology), Jess has had an education background and finds joy in discovering new ways in which kids can learn from themselves and others.

Jess has lived in Townsville all of her life and is amazed at the rate at which it is growing. Jess has always had time for a bit of soccer and sees it as the best sport for anyone to play as she thinks anyone is able to get in there and have a go. Fun and teamwork keeps her focussed on enjoying life and helping others out, as there is no ‘I’ in team.

Jess has been a part of a church for 20 years and enjoys getting involved. She has been on numerous camps and conferences, led many kids groups and programs, taught RE and mentored countless young kids through life’s ups and down.
