Mr and Mrs Burdell worked hard for the establishment of a school, holding meetings at their home of all interested parents in the district. A letter was drafted and sent to the Under Secretary for Public Instruction requesting assistance in the matter. Upon the receipt of an official application form, a building committee was formed with Mr Fred Burdell as Secretary. Four sites were proposed for the new school and five acres from the Bohlevale Estate was donated by Mr Fred Burdell for the purpose of building a school.
