P-12 curriculum, assessment and reporting framework
The P-12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework specifies the requirements for each Queensland state school in delivering the curriculum from Prep to Year 12. The framework is a key reference for all state school principals, staff and school communities.
A series of accompanying documents inform schools' delivery of a quality curriculum that optimises learning for all students from Prep to Year 12.
The P-12 curriculum, assessment and reporting framework reflects State Schools' Strategy for 2016 to 2020 'Every student succeeding - State schools strategy (PDF, 408KB)' as part of a commitment to providing a world-class education for all students. It is based on the assumption that every student can learn and that responding to the particular learning needs of students is central to teaching.

National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
In May each year, students from all state and non-state schools across Australia participate in testing under the National Assessment Program-Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).
The national tests assess the skills of all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
These tests provide an important measure of how all students are performing against national standards.
NAPLAN was developed collaboratively by the Australian Government, state and territory governments and non-state school sectors. These tests replace the previous state and territory based tests conducted prior to 2008.
Reporting
The release of the 2015 Australian Curriculum and Reporting Authority (ACRA)'s national 2015 NAPLAN report has Queensland firmly on track to becoming one of the top performing states in NAPLAN.
In 2015, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 recorded some of the best results for Queensland since NAPLAN testing began.
ACARA's report shows results at each year level and domain - for the nation and by state and territory and includes detailed results by gender, Indigenous status, language background other than English status, parental occupation, parental education, and geolocation (metropolitan, provincial, remote and very remote) at each year level and for each domain of the test.
The
Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) coordinates the administration, marking and reporting of the NAPLAN tests in Queensland.
Hard copies of individual student reports are delivered to schools by QCAA whilst school and class reports are available via the secure QCAA website.
